Receiving a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease can be a devastating blow—not just for the client, but for their family and friends. Working with a non-medical caregiver can help alleviate some of the fears that often accompany an Alzheimer’s diagnosis, including but not limited to fear that the client will become lost or confused, fear of injury, and fear of decline in personal care and nutrition.

For many diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, the ability to continue living at home can be not only a soothing balm, but can also inspire a client to maintain as much independence as possible. With a disease that can make new surroundings confusing and frightening, the capability to continue living in the home a client loves and knows is important. This is just one benefit of in-home care.
Maintaining memory through active listening and compassionate conversation is just one of the many things our companions do for Dependable Care clients. Our homemakers will assist in not only looking after our client, but also in looking after our client’s home, keeping it clean and safe. Should the need arise to help clients with personal care, our client caregivers are ready to help with tasks such as bathing. Our live-in caregivers provide the added service of 24-hour care.
Our caregivers can also provide medication reminders and doctor appointment reminders. Our Alzheimer’s Care service also involves transportation to and from the doctor, ensuring our clients get the care they need, when they need it.
Even though our caregivers are non-medical providers, all of our clients receive an initial consultation with our nurse who will conduct assessment of our new client’s home. Our nurse may make recommendations for safety, from shower bars to door alarms.
